Porter said a pretty profound thing today that I thought I'd share. We were in the car on the way to the Library and he said, "We can get a cat when Jesus comes again!" I was kind of surprised by this and wondering what his thought process was asked him why. He said, "because when Jesus comes again he makes our bodies all better and you won't be allergic anymore!" I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. It was just what I needed to hear because I have been having a very hard time with my asthma this last month. I need to remember and have faith that I will be healed and that the limitations of this earthly body are temporary. What a sweet boy with such a sweet spirit of love and compassion for others (I'm sure some of that compassion was driven by his want of a cat though!!)
In other news, Avonell passed level 1 of swimming lessons and gets to start level 2 on Monday. We have 2 weeks left and then lessons are over for the summer. I think all of the kids, well maybe except for Becca, will be sad to see them end. I'm sure we will make many trips to the pool as long as it is open though.
The kids finished their "Read your way to the ball park" this week and now get to go to a baseball game with Drew. I decided that since they did so well with the Library's reading program that I made up our own reading program. After they have read 10 books they get to buy a candy bar, after 20 books they get to buy a new book, after 30 books they get to go to Mcdonald's, and after 40 books they get to go to Makutu's Island. For those of you who are not familiar with makutu's Island, it is a large indoor play place that has a 35 foot bananna tree they can climb up and tons of slides to go down. We love it but don't make it there often enough.
Porter is looking forward to school starting. I have tried to keep him busy but his heart is in learning constantly and I just can't keep up with the school environment while keeping 2 other children busy at the same time. I am still trying to figure out what to do for Avonell's preschool. I have a feeling I will end up doing it at home again, which I love to do so I am actually looking forward to it.
I finished the Book of Mormon last month and I have started the Doctrine and Covenants. I have been surprised at how much more quickly answers to my prayers come when I am immersing myself in the word of the Lord. My goal is to get all the way through the Doctrine and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price, Joseph Smith History and the New Testament by the end of the year. If I keep a steady pace it shouldn't be to hard to do.

Wow, it sounds like you have been so busy. And way to go on your reading! Once Karli gets a little bigger I may have to make some time to read again. Hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!
you amazed me! Porter is great to have so much faith and you just keep on going! Thank you for your example and your love and patience for me! You do truly amazed me!
I like your reading program! Ryder is doing one here with the Nampa public library. It is all about bugs. He is loving it. Wish we had a fun place with a banana tree though!
I love to listen to Porter read! It is so cute! I love it when he reads to Rylee too! I can't wait until she reads for real. Right now she has just memorized the books that I have read her for the last two years and she "reads" them to me. It is great! What cute kids we have!
I love Porter's story. How cute! It's fun to hear what kinds of things go through their heads. What a sweet kid. He gives such cute, creative answers in primary too.
You inspire me! I am so blessed to be uplifted by you! I love these precious moments with the children and you'll be so glad later that you recorded it! I'm sure we can help take up some of the time left of summer:)
