Porter started 1st grade 2 1/2 weeks ago and is loving it! This kid loves to learn! He is learning about the earth and all of its layers right now, so everything he creates is centered around that. He is our mechanically minded child. We got him some K'nex for Christmas last year and he built a mini basketball game with it, catapult and all. He is so left brained it is scary!
We finally got our swing set!! We waited for 2 months for ToysRus to get one in the store. Here are a couple of pictures of the kids enjoying being outside while daddy put the swing set together.
As we were driving past our over grown bush in the front yard she said, "Wow those bees sure are working hard!"
Last night as we were eating dinner she decided that she didn't like what I made and wouldn't eat it. She said her tummy hurt, but after a little coaxing we finally got the truth out of her. She said, "I think my tummy is saying that it just wants to go out and play on the swing!" What a goober! Drew and I tried so hard not to laugh!
Yesterday as we were on our way to pick up Porter from school she was telling me all about what she learned in her Primary class. She said, "My teacher told me that once Elmo was not good in the church and then Elmo was good in the church." I thought what the heck does Elmo have to do with the church? Then I realized that they had a lesson on Alma the younger! I thought that was pretty funny. Kuddos to Avonell for listening and retaining her Primary lesson!!
Okay, last one I promise! I let the kids run around in the rain a couple of weeks ago and ever since then they have been waiting (not very patiently) for it to rain again. Every time they say their prayers the phrase "thank you for the rain" is said. Well, one particular day Avonell would not leave me alone about getting to play in the rain. I tried to explain to her that I do not have the power to make it rain. She said, "but I said thank you for the rain in my prayers!" What faith she has. Drew and I tried to explain to her that just because we ask for something in our prayers doesn't mean that we are going to get what we asked for. We had to explain to her that in some parts of Arizona it was flooding and if Heavenly Father made it rain again it would be bad for some other people. Drew made her a promise that if it didn't rain by that Saturday then he would squirt them with the garden hose and we would pretend like it was raining! Well, come Saturday she had forgotten all about that promise! Sure enough about an hour after she was in bed it started to pour! When we told her the next morning that it rained she got so excited!
Well, that's what has been going on in the Rappleye house!
Raise your hand if you are ready for it to cool down! I am so ready for the morning to cool off. I got a jogging stroller that I have been dying to try out and the weather is just not cooperating! I miss the track! I know I'm a freak but that is my stress reducer.
