Today is my Anniversary! Drew and I have been married for 9 years today so I thought I'd take a minute and share our story. Drew doesn't remember our first meeting but I certainly do. We were on the track team together in 9th grade. I was working on the hurdles when my foot caught on the hurdle and I fell flat on my face! I ended up with one nasty skinned knee and the other knee was sprained. What I remember is this boy with long blond hair coming to ask me if I was ok. He was the only one to come and see if I was alright! From then on I had a strange curiosity for him! Almost like my spirit already knew what I was in store for!
We ended up in the same French class in high school and even worked together at Hogi Yogi! I thought he was really weird to tell you the truth! We never dated through high school he had his girls friends(many of them I might add!) and I had a boyfriend or two. Then one fateful day I went into our beloved Hogi Yogi for a sandwich and lo and behold he was working there again! He told me he was to leave on a mission in 3 months and could he call me sometime! I said ok and not a week later we were on our first date.
I was still a little leary of this boy mind you! He was the Fonz rebel type with the hot rod and long hair I was the total opposite. I was the bookworm nerd who loved to sing in choir, dance, and sew! Why he picked me I still have no idea! I remember after our second date he called me and said "we need to go out again, promise me we can go out this week." My reply was "I'm not going to promise you anything!" I was still a little bitter from my last releationship! We did go out one more time and it was magic at that point. I knew, I knew he was the one for me! The only problem was he was leaving on a mission to Louisiana. We were supposed to have 3 months we ended up with two!
He called to invite me to his farewell and there I sat with all of his ex-girlfriends still swooning over him! But he was to be mine and I his! We wrote for the two years. We still have 4 three inch binders of letters to document the time we got to know each other better. Priceless if you ask me! When he got home I was at the airport with his family. It was like breathing fresh air to see him again! He proposed a week later and two minths after that we were married.
So that's it! Nine years and 3 and 3/4 children later! I love him dearly he is still my best friend and my home. Here are some things I adore about my Drew:
1. He whistles while he works.
2. I love it when he laughs REALLY hard.
3. I love that we can sit and read next to each other for hours.
4. He keeps me laughing.
5. He lightens the mood in our home.
6. He works sooooo hard.
7. He has many talents. To many to list!
8. He has no care for physical appearances.
9. He serves the Lord.
10. He loves his children.
11. His love of his Mustang. He's had it since high school!
12. His love of politics.
13. His love of little critters (tide pools are the best!).
14. The way he lovingly takes care of me.
15. The way he accepts that I have depression issues and helps me keep it in check.
16. He encourages me in everything I do.
17. He has never once yelled at me.
18. He shows me respect and teaches our children that that is how they should treat me.
19. He has never forgotten a birthday or anniversary.
20. His knowledge and love of the gospel. He honors his Priesthood and uses it to bless our home.
There are many more things I love about Drew. So many that I can't list them all!
Happy Anniversary my love!
